Mad Dancer Media opened its door in 1995. Actually, it was Michael's garage door, but we (Michael and Kari) had to start somewhere. We both had day jobs in the entertainment industry at the time, so we started out slowly, mostly focusing on creating and programming customized enhanced CDs, games and CD-ROM products for various Christian record companies and their artists. Our reputation and client list grew, but eventually, the demand for interactive retail products was replaced by the demand for a new type of interactive technology โ something called a "web site." Kari's first experience with the web wasn't so friendly. The "expert" that she hired while still at her day job ran off with the $2,000 deposit. Overcoming the early stigma of being "web guys," we quickly learned the ins and outs of creating and maintaining an online presence.
Today, we're proud that the Mad Dancer team is known for our innovative and creative branding and imaging, design and hosting services. We have become a leader in the web site development and content management field and strive to add a personal touch to every web site under the Mad Dancer banner. With our combined backgrounds in art direction, marketing and technology, we take a hands-on approach with our clientele and are dedicated to accuracy and excellence in all aspects of our clients' online identities.
As our company evolved, we realized that our clients needed a better way to manage their web properties without having to take the extra steps of going through us whenever they needed to make changes to their web site content. For the past three years, we have been developing and implementing Mad Dancer's signature achievement โ a powerful content management platform we call "Kapelle." A versatile, modular and centralized web site command center, Kapelle allows you to take control of your site in a way no other system does and is currently being used by a number of Mad Dancer clients from all aspects of modern business uses โ from high-profile, high-traffic artist web sites to multi-billion-dollar financial institutions subject to rigorous FDIC security scrutiny. We could go on and on, but you can probably already tell we're really proud of Kapelle. We would love to talk to you more about how this dynamic system can service the unique needs of your web site. We'll even give you a self-guided, hands-on tour so you can see the difference for yourself.
After more than seven years located in an historic, 19th century bungalow affectionately dubbed the "Mad House," in November 2009 we relocated our offices to the entire second floor of the former Franklin National Bank building in downtown Franklin, Tennessee. We're pretty good about keeping the clutter to a minimum, but we had definitely outgrown our old space. Sadly, the Mad House was destroyed in the flood that devastated the greater Nashville area in May 2010. Our new offices give us plenty of room to grow and still maintain the modern vibe we like to convey. Of course, the fact that Ben & Jerry's is right downstairs isn't such a bad thing, either.
Little did we know as we took those first steps into web design and hosting in the early days of the new century that we would eventually work with a diverse list of incredible clients, including music artists Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain and Jennette McCurdy (aka "Sam" from Nickelodeon's "iCarly") as well as businesses such as Sony, Time-Life, Warner Music Group, EMI, Tennessee Commerce Bank, First Tennessee Bank and Williamson Medical Center. We have also had the privilege of working with many non-profit organizations, including: The Ear Foundation, which works to raise awareness of rare auditory diseases; The Ready or Not Foundation, which promotes awareness and research for the fight against pediatric brain cancers; and, most recently, The Tug McGraw Foundation, which raises funds for brain cancer research.
It's been an amazing fifteen years. But, as we look back on Mad Dancer's journey, we know the best is yet to come.
